Thesis abstract

My PhD research aims to establish a fundamental understanding of the aging of various battery chemistries. The mechanisms behind the degradation of battery materials and their relationship with the electrochemical response are not yet fully understood. I integrate electrochemical measurements with material science techniques to estimate physical parameters on electrodes extracted from commercial batteries.

Personal interest in my research theme

I believe that combining electrochemistry and material science is the most effective way to leverage my university education, offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic and evolving field. Knowledge of battery aging is crucial: understanding how batteries degrade allows for the development of strategies to extend their lifespan and maintain optimal performance. This insight is invaluable for enhancing existing battery technologies and creating new solutions. By improving battery safety and extending their lifetime, I can support environmental sustainability and the transition to renewable energy sources.
